Course overview

Acquire expertise in retouching all types of ready-to-wear and haute couture products, and implement the appropriate retouching techniques in compliance with expected criteria and performance.

Upon completion of your training, you will have mastered all the steps involved in basic alterations and clothing transformation.

Outline and content

We have designed a comprehensive training program based on 80% practice and 20% theory, and focusing on two learning areas:

Pratice (72h) :

  • creating basic assemblies
  • study of different hems for trouser bottoms and skirt bottoms: lapels, false hems, slit hems, shaped hems...
  • study of bending, cutting and pinning ( pliers, cut-outs, extensions)
  • ironing and quality control (self-monitoring)
  • search time and cost (quality/price ratio)

Theory (18h) :

  • textiles
  • haberdashery
  • morphology (basic lines, position, attitude)
  • prototype design
Price: 2 070 € for 2 months and a half

Course access

Entry is possible at any time of the year, following an interview to establish the candidate's profile and needs. To be able to take part in the course, there will be a test on the stitcher to measure dexterity and understanding of instructions.

Duration and schedule

The course lasts a total of 90 hours spread over 10 weeks.

Evaluation methods

The evaluation will include a complete touch-up as well as an on-the-spot satisfaction questionnaire.
