Course overview

This intensive course in theatrical pattern making is designed to train pattern makers who specialize in theatrical costumes. You will learn how to develop patterns quickly and efficiently to create your own theatrical costume. For your information, the fee also includes: pattern paper, canvas, mannequin, ESDMI squares and technical information sheets.

Upon completion of your training, you will be ready to work in the show business and performance sector.

Outline and content

We have designed a comprehensive training program based on 80% practice and 20% theory, and focusing on two learning areas:

Techniques and creation (120h) :

  • base construction
  • moving the pliers
  • ease of use study
  • developing a collar
  • developing a sleeve
  • developing a skirt
  • developing garments for shows
  • fabric production

Theory (36h) :

  • history of costume
  • accessories

Course access

Entry is possible at any time of the year, following an interview to establish the candidate's profile and needs.

Duration and schedule

Training takes place over a total of 156 hours spread over 13 weeks, excluding school vacations.

Classes run all day at the following times:

  • tuesday and friday : 9h to 12h or 13h30 to 16h30

  • technical platform comprising industrial flatbed stitchers, automatic thread cutters and industrial overlock machines

Evaluation methods

Assessment will be carried out throughout the course, and at the end students will receive a certificate of completion.
